Colour matching

Mono-chromatic: using any tint, tone, shade of 1 color
Analogous: using any tint, tone, shade of colours that lies adjacent to each other on the wheel, maintain the fluity of monochromatic col.
Achromatic: a colourless scheme using blacks, whites & grays
Colour & light: subdued evening & candlelight create a distortion of colour. Under these circumstances light colours need more intensity & dark colours less
Colour & distance: distance causes receding(cool) colours to "black out". Consequently lighter values of colour should employed for greater emphasis
Complementary colour: combine a tint, tone, shade of 1 colour and the col opposite on the wheel. eg. blue&orange (1warm 1 cool)
Split complementary: choosing 1 colour & using the col of each side of its complement on the col wheel
Diad: using 2 colours that 2 colours apart on the col wheel. eg. red & orange
Triad: colour scheme in which 3 colours equally space from each other. eg. red, yellow, blue
Tetrad: a contrast of 4 col or more col on the wheel
